The Des Moines Music Coalition is celebrating the DIYers of the Des Moines music scene at its annual awards and fundraiser event! The non-profit, volunteer-based organization will present six music community awards:

• Seth & Finn Andersen, Generation Z Stage (Volunteer and Community Activists of the Year Award)
• Bravo (Community Supporter Award)
• Anne Mathey & Erik Brown, Owners Lefty’s Live Music (Live Music Venue of the Year Award)
• Bryan Farland (Fan of the Year)
• Kevan Murphy, Live LIVE Music (Industry Promoter of the Year Award)
• Surprise Guest (Special Recognition Award)

Guest emcee will be Joe Lawler. Event tickets are $100, available at MidwesTix or at Mars Café. The event will include live music from Volcano Boys and MarKaus, as well as hors d’oeuvres, drinks and a silent auction.

All proceeds from the Backstage Ball benefit the Des Moines Music Coalition’s efforts to build a stronger and more diverse music economy in Central Iowa. DMMC organizes and promotes events that include Gross Domestic Product, 80/35, and Little BIG Fest, plus educational events like Summer Music Camp and Music University
