Dan Whitaker & The Shinebenders
Dan Whitaker and the Shinebenders play an Ameripolitan mix of honky-tonk, western swing and hillbilly jazz, featuring Dan’s original songs. Since 2002 they’ve entertained audiences with countless dance-friendly shows in Chicago and the Midwest while supporting their independent releases. On lead vocals and electric guitar, Dan Whitaker trades solos with Tom Mioduki on acoustic guitar, while Earl Power and Chase Jackson hold steady on bass and drums.
DWSB’s latest album, Anything You Wanted To, was recorded by Mike Hagler at Kingsize Soundlabs in Chicago and released Fall 2017. Along with guest appearances from Chicago honky-tonk favorites, it brings together western swing, rockers, instrumentals, and hillbilly songs to create DWSB’s one-of-a-kind sound.
Dan Whitaker has been creating independent original music since the late 1980s in such bands as June Bug Massacre and the Great Plains Gypsies. With the Shinebenders Dan has been bringing country music back to its roots where it belongs.
