RYNE DOUGHTY/ MATT WOODS DUO – Ryne Doughty is a folk-roots musician out of Southeast IA, whose music is deeply rooted in real life stories of love, loss, work, and play. His stripped down, earthy sound is directly influenced by the small, rural town where he was born and raised. The hard-working, simple living, and friendly way of life of the Midwest shines through his music that is understated yet complex and rich with beauty and realness.

Playing behind his third studio album, “Under the Willow Tree”, Doughty is back in Iowa after a few years in the mountains of Colorado and is starting to make a name for himself in the Midwest scene. Whether he’s playing small or large venues, he is turning heads wherever he plays.

With solid finger-style guitar picking and a rich baritone voice he brings a dynamic of warmth and richness to the stage. Doughty’s performances are always passionate and full of energy and songs that tell real life stories. His live performance and studio albums alike will not leave you wanting. Doughty’s main passion in life is to share his music with the very people who help influence it; the real, hard working, everyday people that make this beautiful world go around.

Matt Woods –

Matt Woods is both a native of Iowa, and a longstanding purveyor of its diverse blues scene. As a seasoned performer of many local, regional and national clubs and venues, Matt has developed a distinct style while staying true to his love of traditional American roots music.  Woods is well-versed in the many shapes this music can take; from traditional delta, hill country and urban electric blues, to gospel, country and folk music.

Woods has been performing regularly since 2002 and has released 4 albums (two solo albums, and two backed by his unparalleled band, The Thunderbolts).  He has also won the Iowa Blues Challenge and gone on the represent the state in the International Blues Challenge an unprecedented 3 times.  Matt’s first solo album, “If I Was a Fish”, finished in the top 5 of the International Blues Foundation’s “best self-produced CD” category in 2006. His two subsequent albums, with The Thunderbolts, have also gained national attention. 2007’s, “Be My Friend”, was referred to as “blistering” by Dirty Linen magazine, and Living Blues magazine called 2010’s “Matt Woods and The Thunderbolts”, “a smoking amalgam of Hound Dog Taylor and Freddy King”. Additionally, Blues Revue called the album; raw, hypnotic and “very appealing”.  Matt latest album, “Sawdust and Gasoline” was release in 2015.  “Sawdust and Gasoline”, which has received extensive airplay in the U.S. and Europe, finished in the Top 5 of the International Blues Foundations “best self-produced CD” category in 2015, and has recently been nominated by Blues Blast Magazine for album of the year in the “Acoustic Blues” category!

Over the course of his career, Matt has also shared the stage with many notable acts, including; Hubert Sumlin, James Cotton, Pinetop Perkins, Louisiana Red, Eddy “The Chief” Clearwater, Willie “Big Eyes” Smith, John Primer, RJ Mischo, Delbert McClinton, The Arc Angels, Dr. John, Kelly Hunt, and Joe Price.  Perhaps most notably, in 2010, Matt Woods and The Thunderbolts opened for Pat Benetar and REO Speedwagon at the famed Iowa State Fair Grandstand in front of a crowd of 10,000+!

DAN TRILK – began playing guitar at the age of nine. By the age of 12 he had formed his first band “Splat” and was performing original music at school talent shows, ice-cream socials and private parties. He is now a professional musician and private music instructor in Des Moines, Iowa.

Dan released his debut solo record entitled “Iowa Weather” on April 24, 2016.  This recording encapsulates the time period a few years before forming a family and a few years after and is a blend of folk, blues and country.  The instrumentation is all acoustic and sparsely layered to totally stripped down.  His lyrics are introspective and sometimes quirky.

Dan regularly performs his original material and unique covers in nightclubs, coffee houses, restaurants, country clubs, weddings, corporate events, and dive bars in The Greater Des Moines Area and plans on spreading the love all across Iowa and beyond in 2016.

The guitar is Trilk’s primary instrument but he may also be known for his bass guitar work with “The Golden Gods”, a rock & roll power trio that was based out of the San Francisco Bay Area. Their CD “The Thorny Crown of Rock & Roll” gained a bit of notoriety in the mid 2000’s. Their music has been featured on MTV’s “Homewreckers” & “Fast Inc.”, Tony Hawk’s video game “Downhill Jam”, a Vans commercial, the movie “The Waitress” and most recently Showtime’s “Shameless”.

Although he is now enjoying focusing on his solo work, Trilk has been in bands of various styles most of his life.  More recently he co-founded Des Moines based bands Electric Shag and The Sexual Undertones who had jazz inspired funk grooves and experimental elements.   In 2011 The Sexual Undertones won a local battle of the bands contest and secured a showcase spot in the Crossroads Music Conference.

If you ever want to see Dan in a cape check out Debbie Doo Wop & Dynamite Dan, a duo that caters to children.  They have two all original children’s CD’s and have performed at Every Family Rocks with Justin Roberts, The Des Moines Arts Festival, many local schools and most of the DSM are libraries.
