It’s that time of year again – The Central Iowa Blues Society will be sending Scotty & The Wingtips to Memphis for the International Blues Challenge!  We are excited for the band and the Blues Society to have such a great representative for Iowa.

Jan 11th Friday at 7pm Lefty’s will host a fundraiser for STW to travel to Memphis.

Scotty & The Wingtips –  was formed in 1989 to host a jam session at a local bar that had just opened and have been playing ever since . Scotty, Mike, and Ernie have been in the band since day 1. The horns were added about 10 years later because there weren’t any local blues bands with horns so to speak, and I {Scotty} have always thought horns just add alot of whammy to any band. We have opened for Junior Wells, Lonnie Brooks, Eddie Clearwater, just to name a few and played most all the venues in town. Been in the finals of the Iowa Blues Challenge a couple of times, played the state fair alot and Blues Festivals around the state.After 22 years we all get along great, we are always learning new songs and we are the longest running blues band with the original core members {drums, guitar, bass} in Des Moines. “Aint got a thing if you aint got that swing.”
