Two of Des Moines’ Prog forces meet on May 6th at Lefty’s.

The Maw have been challenging listeners for 6 years, based out of DM.  They have been known to do full sets of 8 bit Nintendo Music, Movie Themes, along with thoughtful 2 hour sets of insanity!

Prisms And Portals is the brainchild of Shaun Riekena (Taciturn, Saturn Ascends).  Shaun started the project as a solo concept mixing electronica with acoustic drums.  I listened to many of the early tracks and they were powerful and moving to say the least.  Shaun has assembled an all star cast around him to bring the Prisms And Portals sound to a live stage.  I can guarantee you there isn’t a harder working musician in the Midwest and he matches that easily with talent.  If you love original, creative music, this is your show.  Two bands that are stretching the boundaries of the traditional, right here in your back yard.
