River likes to bend genres with his music. In any given tune you might find elements of Folk, Rootsy-Rock, Americana, Pop, Hip-Hop, Blues, and more… Fans often compare River’s songwriting to artists like Jackson Browne and John Prine, and his singing to the likes of Brett Dennen.

Dan DiMonte & The Bad Assettes

Dan DiMonte is an Iowa City-based multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and composer transplanted from the southwest suburbs of Chicago. The Bad Assettes, the powerhouse band that brings DiMonte’s compositions to life, consists of Dan Padley on guitar, Reid Turner on keyboards, Blake Shaw on bass, Jonathan Birdsall on saxophone, and Carlo Kind on drums. DiMonte has performed his original compositions in venues and festivals with the Bad Assettes across the states of Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Northwest Indiana, and Wisconsin. The group has shared the stage with many local and regional acts, fostering the growth of a cross-country musical community. DiMonte and company have been featured twice on Iowa Public Radio’s Java Blend, the Iowa City Jazz Festival, the Iowa City Summer of the Arts Saturday Concert Series, and the U of Minnesota’s Radio K. The band recently released “Dance with Her”, a single and B-side, and the band continues to share their music on stages all across the Midwest and beyond.
