Dickie – Veteran tunesmith Dick Prall has taken his wares and shared them with violinist Kristina Priceman to create a collection of dark, gorgeous, and oft-times moony sing-alongs that pins you to its finely tailored lapel and keeps you fastened there gladly throughout its ten-song entirety. The self-titled record comes in like a bellowing newborn, but settles into a pace of dynamic ebb and flow as it ages and ends with a Roy Orbison-styled recount of hopeful love that never bleeds into the saccharine.

Patresa Hartman (Full Band) – Des Moines-based singer/songwriter, Patresa Hartman, didn’t begin sharing her music with others until an open mic in 2011, attributing the late start to a long-standing bout with stage fright. Five years, hundreds of audiences, and 2 full-length albums later, the fear is gone, and you can find her playing venues across the midwest.

Hartman calls her style soul-folk. A rich, blues voice, serves as the vehicle for thoughtful, poetic lyrics. A percussive guitar player, Hartman’s signature finger picking style serves as a rhythmic foundation for soulful melodies that hint at contemporary country and folk. But Hartman’s roots in gospel and soul become apparent in her turns behind the piano.

“Messenger,” a song off the first album, was chosen to appear on Carpe DSM (2016), a compilation of original songs from Des Moines based singer-songwriters. In November of the same year, Hartman was a feature performer at Little Big Fest, a local festival that headlines national acts.

Hartman released her first album, “the only way down,” in 2014, receiving praise.

Her second album, “Queen of Everything,” was released December 1, 2016, in conjunction with a music video–a collaboration with the Iowa Ballet Academy and local filmmakers at DEFT.
