Ska All Ages Matinee from 5pm to 9pm with:
The Big News
Oklahoma City’s The Big News is a Ska Punk band. They mix influences from British two tone and third wave Ska with a heavy influence of 90’s punk rock.
The Big News has opened for Ska and Punk greats including Voodoo Glow Skulls, The Interrupters, The Toasters, Roddy Radiation of The Specials, Red City Radio, Los Skarnales, Dan Pothast of MU330, Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, Here Come The Mummies & Suburban Legends.
The Big News is more than just a band. It is a movement. The common idea that binds this group of musicians together is to create a new generation hungry for the truth in this convoluted and sick political world and to usher in a new generation of show goers who welcome compassion, love, and understanding for all peoples.

Display Case band members came together in a basement in suburban Des Moines, Iowa, releasing their first album, “Make Your Mark” in 2012 and completing their first two national tours in 2013 & 2014. Released in 2015, “Talking to Pictures”, features their own unique musical style influenced by pop-punk, hardcore and rock with thoughtful lyrics throughout. “Talking to Pictures” lead the band on 2 national tours throughout 2015 and 2016. The band’s newest of 2017, “New to Me” brings an innovative yet familiar sound for the band with heavy guitar and catchy rhythms. “New to Me” is currently being toured and promoted around the country. This band is not to be missed live as their high energy performance will have you on your feet for the duration. New Ship Theory
New Ship Theory was established at the beginning of 2017 by a group of 3 friends with the passion to make music and use the arts to have fun, make people happy, and give people hopes of a better life. The band started when Steve first moved to the Des Moines area and saw that Ilya Syrchin, a friend from the college town of Cedar Falls, was also in the area. Ilya was jamming at the home of Jonah Tweedy at the time, and the two were classmates at Valley High School and were involved in the same musical projects at a young age. Once Ilya introduced Steve to Jonah, the band was ready to set sail. New Ship Theory started hosting a Wednesday night jam at Boggs Hull Ave Tavern (we still do) in the hopes to further prosper the Des Moines music scene. The final piece of the puzzle was found at the 80/35 music festival in Des Moines. Noah Nichols has actively traveled around the United States playing casinos, resorts, and anywhere his Chicago based cover band company could take him. Ilya’s and Noah’s musical chemistry clicked at the 80/35 music festival to the point where he became an on-call musician at the Hull Ave jam, and later joined the New Ship Theory as a bassist/vocalist. The New Ship has set sail!
