Womanish Girl is a Kansas City-based blues duo composed of guitarist and vocalist Katy Guillen and drummer Stephanie Williams. After collaborating for nearly 7 years in the internationally touring band Katy Guillen & The Girls, Guillen and Williams continue their undeniable collaborative chemistry and love for blues and roots music in this stripped down formation. They’ve taken their musical partnership to new heights with Womanish Girl, exploring the guttural roots music of Junior Kimbrough, R.L. Burnside, Big Mama Thornton, and Mississippi Fred McDowell. Guillen and Williams pour their years of touring and creating together into an interpretation of the blues that is raw, energetic, deep, and improvised as Womanish Girl.
